Kristina Irion gave a legal analysis of the EU’s proposed Free Flow of Data Regulation at the European Parliament in Brussels.

On 20 February 2018 Dr. Kristina Irion gave a talk at a workshop of the IMCO Committee of the European Parliament on “Free Flow of Data – A Cornerstone of the Digital Single Market.”

She was invited to provide a legal assessment of the proposed regulation and in particular of the scope of the public security exception in light of EU law. Commissioner Andrus Ansip, Vice-President of the European Commission, delivered a keynote speech. The purpose of the workshop is to give Members the chance to explore in greater depth the various elements of the Commission’s proposed regulation (2017/0228(COD)) with academics, regulators and stakeholders, and to support the decision-making process in Parliament.
