The books and journals of the Documentation Centre are included in the general catalogue of the University Library of the University of Amsterdam. The institute’s code is 312.
It is not possible to borrow the books through interlibrary loan at the Documentation Centre.

Relevant databases:

  • Beck-online:
    Gives access to virtually all (German language) juridical publications of C.H. Beck Verlag and some other publishers (such as Nomos). It contains authoritative commentaries and handbooks, almost all journals published by Beck, including archive, jurisprudence and legislation.
  • BJu tijdschriften:
    Over 6000 articles on jurisprudence relating to civil law, law of civil procedure, mediation, restorative justice, labour law, corporate law, law of succession, estate planning, criminal law and criminology.
  • CURIA:
    Case-law of the European Court of Justice.
  • EUR-lex:
    Database containing European Union Law. Access to legislation, case-law, treaties, and legislative proposals of the European Union. Available in all official languages of the European Union.
  • Google Scholar:
    Search engine for academic publications by Google.
  • HeinOnline:
    A full-text database containing hundreds of, mainly American, legal journals and other legal sources. It is divided in a number of collections: Law Journal Library, Federal Register Library, Legal Classics, Legislative History Library, Treaties History Library, U.S. Supreme Court Library, and others. Older volumes date back to the 18th century. Results can be printed or downloaded in PDF format. The database can be searched alphabetically by title, author, and journal article. Official citation searching is also possible; examples of this can be found in the database.
  • HUDOC:
    All the Court’s judgments and a large selection of decisions, items of information on communicated cases, consultative opinions, press releases, legal summaries and Commission decisions and reports are published in the HUDOC database.
  • IRIS Merlin:
    Database on legal information relevant to the audiovisual sector in Europe.
  • Juridisch-economisch lexicon Eng/NL:
    Standard work and translation norm. Contains terminology from Dutch, Belgian and European legal systems.
  • Juridisch-economisch lexicon NL/Eng:
    Standard work and translation norm. Contains terminology from Dutch, Belgian and European legal systems.
  • Kluwer Navigator:
    Provides access to various aspects of Dutch jurisprudence: Cremers series, the Groene Serie Privaatrecht, Encyclopedie Sociale Verzekeringen, Encyclopedie Sociale Voorzieningen, Cursus Belastingrecht, Fiscale Encyclopedie De Vakstudie, Juridische Bibliotheek, Modellen voor de Rechtspraktijk. They can all be searched either separately or simultaneously or in combinations of your own choosing.

  • Legal intelligence:
    Search engine which indexes both legal documents from Dutch publishers and freely available internet resources. One interface to search for and in articles, books, commentaries, jurisprudence, legislation, treaties, official publications, from Kluwer, Sdu, Paris, Boom, rechtspraak.nl, overheid.nl, EUR-Lex, etc.
  • Legal Scholarship Network (SSRN):
    Bibliographic database for journal articles, working papers and research reports in all fields of law.
  • OpMaat:
    Dutch database with access to: official publications; legislation and regulation; jurisprudence; SDU journals on jurisprudence; EU legislation and regulation. Period: official publications from 1995. OpMaat is daily updated. Related databases are: Rechtsorde.nl and Eurlex.
  • Oxford Scholarship Online – Law:
    Access to a growing number of e-books on law published by Oxford University Press.
  • Rechtsorde:
    Search engine for both juridical documents from Dutch publishers and freely available internet resources. One interface to find articles, books, commentaries, jurisprudence, legislation, treaties and official publications from Kluwer, Sdu, Paris, Boom, rechtspraak.nl, overhead.nl, EUR-Lex, etc.
  • Staten-Generaal digitaal:
    Contains all of the proceedings, documents and attachments of the States-General from 1814-1995.
  • United Nations treaty collection:
    Treaties in English and French, deposited with the United Nations.
  • Westlaw:
    Jurisprudence, legislation, treaties and legal journals from Canada, the European Union, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States. The sources have been selected by subject and/or region and are then gathered in guides. You can search by the following subjects: arbitration and litigation, banking and finance law, bankruptcy and insolvency law, company and commercial law, insurance law, intellectual property law, international organisations, treaties and reference materials, securities law.
